Astoria Palawan

Eco-friendly Puerto Princesa resort

This Eco-friendly Puerto Princesa resort is Astoria Hotels and Resorts’ latest addition to its growing portfolio of luxury leisure properties (Ortigas, Boracay, and Bohol).

Situated on a five (5) hectare mango orchard, Astoria paid special attention to the area’s natural features and geography. A retention pond was built to contain the overflow from a nearby creek and this pond is used both for recreation (fishing) as well as a source of water for irrigating the Mango trees. A modern Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) was also designed to recycle the waste water.

In keeping the natural resources of Palawan pristine, green building materials, practices and methods were strictly adapted for this project.

The architecture of Astoria Palawan can be best described as rustic/modern. It uses sustainable building materials combined with raw concrete that was utilized for the structural components, as well as for the interior partition walls. These are creatively combined with stones found in the area, creating a very natural feel and allows its guests to experience an ambiance that reflects the charming unspoiled lifestyle espoused by Palaweños. The environmental design and materials used throughout the Puerto Princesa resort are meant to make guests of Astoria Palawan experience a unique sojourn that will be truly memorable.

Astoria Bohol

Another fascinating resort – Astoria Bohol

Rich in tradition, culture, history and a myriad of natural wonders, the province of Bohol has become one of the Philippines’ top vacation destinations. The picturesque town of Baclayon (located just 10 minutes away from Bohol’s capital Tagbilaran City) is home to many attractions, like: Baclayon Church which was built by the Jesuits in 1727 and is made entirely of coral stones and plastered with a mixture of egg white and limestone. The Baclayon Museum located within the church grounds  houses a relic of St. Ignatius de Loyola, antique gold thread embroidered ecclesiastical vestments, an image of the Blessed Virgin said to be presented by Queen Catherine of Aragon and many other related artifacts. Nearby is a monument of bronze statues of Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Datu (King) Sikatuna sculpted by no less than National Artist Napoleon Abueva. It depicts the famous “blood compact” and is at the actual site. The island of Bohol has world famous attractions like the breathtaking Chocolate Hills and the endangered tarsiers (one of the worlds smallest primates). There is also the amazing Hinagdanan Cave, the stunning Laoay & Loboc rivers, the white sand beaches with crystal clear waters, majestic forests and so much more. For the more adventurous tourist there is whale and dolphin watching, bungee jumping and zip lines.

However, Bohol’s real gem is its people who are regarded as one of the most hospitable in this part of the country. Bol-anon’s (natives of Bohol) also have cuisines & delicacies that are truly unique and a “must try”. They value what Mother Nature has blessed them with and they are very protective of it. The air is fresh, and communing with nature comes naturally.

These are some of the many reasons that inspired Astoria Hotels and Resorts to establish yet another fascinating resort – Astoria Bohol.

Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar

A New San Jose Builders project.

A living museum of Philippine customs and traditions are re-born in a community typical of the 18th to early 20th century Philippines.    Historical Principalia  or noble class mansions, House of Stone  or Bahay na Bato and Wooden Stilt  houses that once, were  old and decaying architectural  pieces of a  bygone era  and slowly fading into the background of modern urban life are now,  restored  in a picturesque setting reminiscent of a Juan Luna or Amorsolo paintings.  These architectural treasures that have been carefully and painstakingly reconstructed from different parts of the country and rebuilt, “brick by brick” and  “plank by plank”  now ,  stand resplendent with pride  against a backdrop of majestic mountains, expansive rice fields and   a running river that flows to the sea.

Currently, there are twenty seven  heritage architectures, each full  with memories and history. Walking along village cobblestone streets or riding one of the caruajes (horse-drawn carriages) commands a feeling of nostalgia and wonder, romance and appreciation  of simple living  at its best.

At Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, the legacy of our forefathers and the beautiful Filipino traditions live on. It is a step back into the past, reliving the age- old traditions and practices distinct to our culture, without leaving the luxury and comforts of the modern world.

A showcase of Filipino talent, ingenuity and craftsmanship, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar takes pride in the past... And keeps its hope for the future.
